How to Get on a Horse

First you need to saddle your horse up. You need a saddle blanket to keep the horse from getting sore. Then you throw the saddle on the horse's back. The girth goes around the horse's stomach. You put the cinch strap through the girth and pull it tight. Then the cinch goes around a loop to keep your saddle from falling off. You need it really tight. Then you need to put on the bridle. It has to be unbuckled and unlatched and then you slip it over the horse's ears. You need to get the bit in the horse's mouth. When you do that, you need to buckle and latch it up. Then you're ready to jump on. You go to the left side of the horse and put your foot in the saddle. You grab the horn and pull. Hoist yourself up till you're sitting in the saddle. Then lean down and put both feet into the stirrups. Now you're set to ride. Good luck!

Across the states

My family is going to three different states this spring break. We will start in Arizona, continue through to Nevada and Las Vegas, and then to Utah. Then we will drive back to Arizona. Our plane lands in Phoenix, Arizona. My grandparents will pick us up and take us to their home in Sun City West. The next morning we will load up in their motor home and head north to the Grand Canyon. We will go through two National Parks. Then we will arrive at the Northern rim of the Grand Canyon. We'll probably spend a few nights there and then head for Utah. We will go through lots of towns on the way, and probably stop at all the antique shops. (My mom and grandmother are antique freaks!) Then Nevada here we come! We'll stop in Las Vegas for a while and then head home to Sun City West!

P.S. California, Ohio, and Texas are nearby, but not near enough!

Will You Come?

Hualalai Mountain strong and high,

Why, oh why, oh why, oh why?

Can't I climb to the top,

then drop

plunging at full speed

without any heed,

and land in a blanket

as soft as snow?

I'm going to go.

Will you go?
