Each month we will have a Reading Log where we keep a record of the numbers of pages we read. From September until March this will be our Book It Reading. Students will earn free pan pizzas from Pizza Hut. Each month we will read different genres of books and we will do various reading activities.
In April we will start Reading Olympics. We will still keep a monthly reading log, but this reading program will encourage students to do more in-class free time, and out of school reading. Your child will earn points for reading books, completing special activities, and for visiting the public library. All students who earn over a certain number of points will receive “gold” medal awards, “silver” awards, or “bronze” awards. However, each child’s biggest reward will be that he or she will become a better reader!
In May we will take part in the Read In and sleep overnight in celebration of reading.
